Canada welcomes business people with open arms. The following categories are in place to ensure that business immigrants are able to support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.

Skilled Worker and Professional

Depending on economic conditions, Canada welcomes certain skilled workers as permanent residence. In November 2008, 38 occupations were listed as priority occupation that cuts processing time from 5 years to 1 year.

Federal skilled worker program is for people coming to any part of Canada except Quebec. The province of Quebec is responsible for selecting it’s own skilled workers. If you intend to live in Quebec, consult Quebec-selected skilled worker for more information.

Canadian Experience Class

In 2008, Canada Immigration created the CEC class, intended to assimilate temporary foreign workers (except live-in caregivers) or a foreign student who graduated in Canada. This particular class was envision with the hope that they will have a better chance of a successful transition since they are already familiar with Canadian Society and be able to contribute to the Canadian economy in the shortest possible time.

Provincial Nominee Program

The PNP program is an initiative by both the Federal and the provincial government. It is aim to strengthen the economic fabric of each province by allowing respective provinces to have a say in the selection of potential applicants that are more attuned to the needs of the province. Each province or territory has their own criteria for nomination.
