Work Temporarily

Canada welcomes temporary foreign workers in certain industries. One of the most popular categories is the Live-in Caregiver program. It envisions to solved the problem of childcare, elderly care or special need care. Under this program, a live-in caregiver comes into Canada on a work permit. However, upon completion of 24 months of work within a three years period, the worker can apply for permanent residence. Other temporary foreign workers also exist. Most of them are on a contractual basis for normally 24 months. Certain industries require a labor market opinion secured by the employer before the temporary foreign worker can apply for a work permit. Other program also exists with totally different set of criteria to meet.

Study

Foreign students from Korea, Japan, China and other countries come to Canada either to study English and/or pursue higher education. Some come to learn a new culture while studying. Others apply for permanent residence should they qualify to apply under the CEC class.
